As we’ve been granted ‘Premium Installer’ status by Solidor, we’re clearly no strangers to installing their excellent offering of composite doors. We’re also no strangers to the scenic rural setting of Spreyton either. Our expert team of installers recently installed two Solidor doors onto the home of a customer there.
When fitting new windows and doors on a property, it’s important for them to enhance the property’s original character. As this particular property was a charming cottage, the quaint allure of a stable door was, therefore, an ideal choice for the rear of the property. To ensure for consistency with the cottage’s windows, leaded glass was also incorporated into its design.
For the front door, we changed the glass in the adjacent window to a sandblasted unit with a clear border. This was done in order to complement the new door, ensuring for consistency throughout the front of the property.
The Twilight Grey colour, which is a new addition to the Solidor colour range, was then chosen for the colour of each door, ensuring their appearance was strikingly stylish but still in keeping with the traditional cottage setting.
One unique feature of stable doors is that the top and bottom parts can be operated independently of one another. Therefore, the top part can be opened up and air can make its way inside whilst the bottom half remains closed, preventing any animals or children from venturing outside. So, now our Spreyton customer can open up their home and take in the outdoors in a secure way.
Seeing as Solidor doors have a maximum U-value of 1.5W/m2k, whenever their new doors are shut, they’ll keep plenty of heat inside their home too.
As a door provides a potential route into the home, it’s essential for it to be properly reinforced against potential intrusions. Fortunately, Solidor doors, as their name suggests, really are incredibly secure. They have a 48mm solid timber core, which is 10% thicker than other composites, giving them incredible rigidity. They also use one of the most secure locking cylinders on the market – the Ultion locking cylinder. These are known for their ability to prevent entry to the home even after being snapped twice.
As a result of these impressive security features, our Spreyton customer’s home is highly protected against unwanted visitors. You can’t put a price on peace of mind and by choosing a Solidor composite door from us, peace of mind is exactly what our customer got.
Both doors were keyed alike, however, we also changed the locking barrel in our customer’s bifold doors so it was consistent with them too. Not only did this make them more secure but it ensured our customer had one key for everything, making accessing their home extremely convenient!
When reviewing our work, our Spreyton customer had this to say:
“From start to finish, everything went very smoothly. The team were a delight to have working at the house and all inspired great confidence in their skills and abilities. I am now the envy of all my friends and neighbours and would unhesitatingly and without reservation recommend your company to anyone looking to have their doors and windows updated with modern high-security state of the art replacements.”Get a quote

"Brilliant local company. Installed a new door for my father (after a recommendation by a friend). Great product, great price, but (& I can not stress this enough) their kindness & care dealing with an elderly gent, especially regarding the guarantee (so both myself as his son & he could have a copy) was amazing. I genuinely did not believe service like this existed any more. Lovely people to do business with & a company I can thoroughly recommend."
- Ashley D.
"Excellent delivery of service and installation (11 windows and 1 door). Thank you Tom for a job well done! Clean and very efficient. We were recommended by word of mouth to use Doors and Windows and would not hesitate to recommend this company ourselves. Many thanks."
