Energy Rated Windows - What are the options?
Doors & Windows (Exeter) Limited offer various levels of Energy Rated windows.
Feedback from our customers has told us that consumers are more aware of energy rated products (such as white goods) and that they want the most thermally efficient products available. All windows now fitted have to comply to a minimum standard of a C-Rating, and as such, we offer windows rated A, B & C.
A-Rated
Our standard window (for which the above WER label applies) is an A-Rated window. Due to the thermal efficiency of the Eurologik frame from Eurocell, this doesn't have to be as highly specified as some other profiles to acheive the A-Rating, therefore saving you money both on the product itself, and on your energy bills. The A-Rated sealed units have thermally efficient glass combined with a warm-edge spacer bar and are filled with argon gas. (The warm edge spacer bar allows less heat transfer through it than the previous silver aluminium spacer bars that are commonly seen on windows fitted before 2010)
C-Rated
As stated, the minimum compliance standard is a C-Rating, and we achieve this through the same specification of glass as the A-Rated units, but without the argon gas. Cost of these windows is slightly less, but the extra for the A-Rated units will be recouped in savings on your energy bills.
B-Rated
Through our glass suppliers, we do not pay a premium for the more thermally efficient warm-edge spacer bar, but we do have some customers who prefer to match the aluminium spacer bar in older windows they may have. The glass specification of a B-Rated window is the same as an A-Rated one, but the spacer bar is less thermally efficient and as such it doesn't achieve the higher rating. The cost of these windows is the same as the A-Rated ones.
"What happens when I've had windows fitted......?"
The windows fitted will comply with one of the above WER's (depending on your choice), and all windows will have a sticker confirming that they are energy rated and comply with the latest requirements. Once payment has been received, the installations are registered with FENSA and a certificate of compliance is sent direct. We send you the WER rating label along with a copy of our guarantee and details on the FENSA registration. The paperwork regarding the Insurance Backed Guarantee also comes direct from our providers.
