Secondary glazing is often used as an additional barrier against noise and loss of heat when the existing windows either cannot be changed due to the property being listed or in a conservation area, where changing the windows may be detrimental to the appearance of a property, or where the cost of changing windows may be too high.
Manufactured from slim aluminium profiles, secondary glazing is designed to sit discreetly behind existing windows so it is not visible from outside when viewed head on. See below for more information or click here to be taken to our designated secondary glazing website
What are the benefits?
Can be used where existing windows are to be retained for aesthetic or historic reasons.
Benefits include: improved thermal insulation, draft and sound proofing, comfort and security.
Single glazed with either 4mm or 6mm toughened safety glass.
Can be directly fixed into the window reveals or can be used with timber sub-frames.
Single colour profile. Can be sprayed with any RAL or BS colour
Will it compliment my property?
There are different styles of secondary glazing available to compliment your existing windows. Primarily secondary glazing is designed to sit behind existing windows and to be unseen from outside. These styles are listed below:
Ideally positioned behind existing vertical sliding sash windows, both panes of the vertical sliding secondary glazing units slide to enable easy access to the exterior window for cleaning and maintenance. The panes are spring balanced for smooth operation.
Sitting on high quality runners, both panes of the horizontal sliding secondary glazing units slide left and right. Ideally suited to sit behind existing casement windows with their narrow mullions ensuring discretion when viewed from outside. Internal catches allow for a snug fit.
Hinged / Lift Out
Where there are no existing transoms or mullions (ie a fixed window) a hinged or lift out secondary glazing unit will ensure the existing view is not disturbed.
